⚖️ Template notice. These terms are a good-faith starting point, not legal advice. Have them reviewed by a qualified lawyer in your jurisdiction before you publish the app.

These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") govern your use of the Sapling mobile application (the "app"). By downloading or using the app, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

1.The service

Sapling presents a six-week sustainability journey with Daily Seeds, optional Policy Lenses and Field Missions, a local living ecosystem, and links to official sources. Optional country/EU collective counts may be unavailable without affecting the personal journey. Features, content and availability may change over time.

2.Your licence

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use the app on devices you own or control, for your own personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms and the app store's terms.

3.Acceptable use

4.No professional advice

The app is for general education and motivation. Any carbon figure is a conservative low–high scenario, not a measurement or personal footprint. Habit estimates may overlap, expire and change with reviewed methodology. Knowledge and civic participation are not converted into carbon. Policy summaries are simplified; confirm details against linked official sources before relying on them.

5.Collective participation

6.Intellectual property

The app, its design, branding and original content are owned by Sapling and protected by intellectual-property laws. Names of EU institutions, directives and the official materials we link to belong to their respective owners; we reference them for educational purposes only and claim no affiliation or endorsement.

7.Third-party services

The app relies on Apple for distribution and device services, official publishers for linked source material, and—if the pilot collective is enabled—an EU-region infrastructure provider. Availability and use of those services are governed by their terms. The final processor and dependency inventory must be confirmed before public launch.

8.Disclaimers & limitation of liability

The app is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, to the fullest extent permitted by law. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any environmental outcome will result from its use. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, Sapling will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under law, including your mandatory rights as a consumer.

9.Termination

You may stop using the app and uninstall it at any time. We may suspend or end the service, or your access, if you materially breach these Terms or where necessary to comply with law.

10.Governing law & changes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the European Union member state in which Sapling is established, without prejudice to the mandatory consumer-protection rights of your country of residence. We may update these Terms as the app evolves; the "last updated" date above reflects the current version, and continued use after changes means you accept them.
